Environmental Awareness Class Organized by Green Hills Trust at Sharda Public School
Almora – Green Hills Trust organized a special program titled “Environmental Classroom” at Sharda Public School today with the objective of promoting environmental awareness through educational initiatives. The event aimed to sensitize students about pressing environmental issues like global warming and climate change.
Addressing the students, the secretary of the trust, Dr. Vasudha Pant, spoke in detail about the causes and consequences of global warming and climate change. She emphasized that human greed is largely responsible for the current environmental crisis. She urged every individual, especially students, to become more environmentally conscious and to critically assess their daily habits and actions. By reducing our carbon footprint and controlling excessive consumption, we can contribute meaningfully to fighting climate change.
Dr. Pant further warned that countries like India are most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, with water resources being among the worst affected. Citing the example of the drying Koshi river and its tributaries, she explained how the Himalayan region is already experiencing the adverse effects of climate change. Many perennial rivers are now facing a severe threat to their existence, indicating an alarming trend toward desertification.
To combat this crisis, Dr. Pant called upon everyone to take small but significant steps in their daily lives that support environmental conservation. The students actively participated in the session and showed great enthusiasm. Their interest in environmental issues and willingness to join hands with Green Hills Trust for future activities were highly appreciated.
The Green Hills Trust expressed its gratitude to Sharda Public School for hosting the program and supporting the mission of environmental protection.
