In a matter of pride for the hill town of Almora, the Almora Municipal Corporation has secured the 36th position in the Swachh Survekshan 2025, conducted under the Government of India’s flagship Swachh Bharat Mission. This national ranking is being hailed as a significant milestone that reflects the city’s growing commitment to cleanliness and public hygiene.
The credit for this accomplishment is being attributed to the joint efforts of elected representatives, sanitation workers, local citizens, and the Municipal Commissioner’s office. Over the past year, the Corporation has intensified its cleanliness drive, turning it into a mass movement. Notable initiatives include solid waste management, a plastic-free campaign, regular drain cleaning, maintenance of public toilets, and widespread public awareness drives.
Reacting to the achievement, the Municipal Commissioner stated, “This is not just a rank, but a result of collective participation and the hard work of our sanitation workers and citizens. Our aim is to make it to the top 20 next year.”
Mayor Ajay Verma termed the achievement a historic moment for Almora, emphasizing, “This success is a reflection of the awareness and teamwork of Almora’s citizens. We are committed to providing even better sanitation facilities in the coming years.”
The news has been received with great enthusiasm across the city. Citizens took to social media to congratulate the cleanliness team and the corporation, celebrating Almora’s positive image at the national level.
